On Tuesday, Hazel and I made it out to Will Rogers State beach because it was practically empty and we wouldn’t have to stress about parking because everyone knows how shitty parking is in Santa Monica and Venice. We got in a couple hours before sitting in traffic for a good hour on the 10 fwy. Without traffic it would take about 20 minutes, but of course you’d have to be driving in the middle of the night while everyone is getting rest to sit in some more traffic later in the day.
On Thursday (yesterday), we came back, but this time took Steph with us. Once again, there were only a handful of people and we were blessed with a pleasant amount of sunshine.
Clearly we got excited when beach patrol removed the "wet paint" sign. We suddenly became the people we make fun of... oops.
"Water on the rocks please" is my go to drink. HAHA I'm funny. But seriously, how aesthetically pleasing are rocks and the ocean together? Very pleasing if I say so myself. And listening to the waves crash into the rocks is just as pleasing to the ears. Sometimes I just can't deal with Mother Nature. She makes my heart so full.
There is no doubt in my mind that everyone needs a little chill time to forget about the obstacles that life constantly throws at you. I know that sometimes our “busy” schedules get in the way of remembering to take care of ourselves and lately, I’ve noticed a change in attitude towards my outlook on life. There is so much to be grateful for. We are surrounded by so much beauty, which I’ve failed to realize, always being distracted by negativity and never really reveling in positivity. I’m learning so much more about myself as I continue to seek tiny pieces of magic whenever and wherever I can. For instance, the Zaddy who was at the beach. I swear to you, the way he got out of the water was so majestic, I was constantly asking myself if this was real life because this was the kind of stuff you only see in the movies. You just had to be there, that's all I'm saying.
I just need to put this out there… I LOVE BEACH HAIR. It’s been decided that I must take a bucket with me whenever I’m out by the water so I can take some home because the lord knows how much money I spend on sea salt spray. Nothing is as good as the real thing.
(Here's my Snap story for the day! Last 3 are Steph's. PS I get really obnoxious on Snapchat whenever we're in the car. Sorry I'm not sorry for my love for music!)
Of course, the day had to end because yet again, my back was burnt even with multiple applications of sunblock. We were prepared for the inevitable which was Los Angeles traffic and according to Google Maps, it would’ve taken us approximately 1 hour and 27 minutes to get home from ze beach, but Hazel being Hazel wanted to take the streets which I never seem to mind because it just means getting to see more of the city I adore. Sometimes you just need to sit in the car for 2 hours with your friends blasting your favorite songs with accompanied off pitch singing and off beat dancing, windows rolled down and sun roof wide open, you know.... the works. And sometimes you get smiles in return, other times you get unimpressed looks, but we just don’t mind those people. Then you have people who try to be slick while recording us, but all you can do is laugh and point and dance at their phones anyway hoping you end up on Snapchat’s LA Story because how wicked would that be? To end the perfect day, we enjoyed some sausages at Wurstkuche and Hazel enjoyed her Lavendar cheesecake at Pie Hole in the Arts District. It was a long day, but nothing is better than sand everywhere (and when I say everywhere, I MEAN EVERYWHERE), salt in your hair, and sunkissed skin! Now, it’s the next day and I have to somehow get rid of all of the sand that’s currently on my bathroom floor.
But that's no biggie because luckily, I found magic at the beach this week.
Hope you guys enjoy the rest of this beautiful weather before it reaches the low 70s again... ugh.
