After a full week of slaving for the beautiful city of Los Angeles (aka jury duty), it was decided that a quick trip to San Diego was going to happen for Memorial weekend (except we only stayed one night). Of course, we were stuck in traffic for a good 3 hours, but like I've mentioned before, long car rides are fine as long as you've got a quality playlist which was provided by Spotify premium thank you very much. The plan was to meet our familia who live in SD at the flower fields in Carlsbad Saturday morning, but unfortunately it was closed so instead we went Strawberry picking in the afternoon!
I had never done any sort of picking of fruit before so I guess you could say I was excited. I was also being a loser and gushing over all of the tiny strawberries because they were just sooooooo teeeeeny and cute and reminded me of that little strawberry in "Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs!"
To be honest, I hardly did any picking. That evening we went to our hotel room and hung out for a bit. I played with the precious Uliana Rose who laughed, cried, smiled, drooled, & peed. My half-sister Mia then swung by to pick us up for dinner! It took us forever to decided where to grub (as per usual), but majority won and we went for Mexican food at Tacos El Gordo where the lines were ridiculous, but well worth the wait. I ordered two adobada tacos and because that wasn't enough I got another two carne asada tacos. (Mexican food is my favorite food if you didn't know.)
Next morning we decided to go for donuts at the Donut Bar in Downtown San Diego which I was thrilled about because DONUTS. Here we have a photo of Uli staring off into the distance dreaming about the delicious donuts that we (as in not her) were about to devour. The menu was definitely neat, but unfortunately we didn't get there early enough to get some of the good stuff like Maple Bacon Cinnamon Roll *drool* Because I always struggle with choosing items off of a delectable list, I had the lovely lady choose for me. (L-R: strawberry cream cheese, red velvet, peach split, nutella, ferrero rocher eclair, & birthday cake oreo [which I didn't get to eat because I woke up and it had already been devoured])
Our next stop on our short stay in San Diego was Balboa park which was stunning. So many museums, so many people, so many tourists admiring the park and the beautiful buildings. I love places like this because it calls for the ultimate people watch. Everyone just seems so happy which makes me happy.
After that we went to the Vogel household where I took a nap because exhaustion was definitely there. Overall, the trip was lovely. Unfortunately, we didn't get to make it to some of the places that I wanted to visit, but then again there's always next time! It's not like SD is so far away haha. Such a great start to the Summer!
So the anticipated London and Paris trip is only two weeks away and it really hasn't hit me that I am finally going to visit the two cities I only ever dream about every other day! How funny is it though that right after finals week I was summoned for jury duty and actually have to be on the case for two weeks? I haven't been able to fully enjoy being out of school. Fortunately, I get to apply for graduation because grades were just submitted! OH! and I'm also doing some mad reading, currently almost done with my second book! Everything is just so exciting and fast paced! Well, that was a quick life update.
I hope you guys had a lovely three day weekend as most of us needed it. I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks as the sun has decided to shine bright like a diamond. I can finally continue my endeavors as a living, breathing bronze medal because tan is what we aim for.
Feeling so alive right now.
Love love love,
Lucia
