State Yarn Art

Ah Winter vacation. The most wonderful time of the year! So much time on your hands... so you decide to head over to Michael's to buy some supplies for a project you found online! That's certainly what I did :) I've been wanting to do this for like EVER and I finally got around to doing it. This activity is reeeaaallll simple. It certainly requires patience and a bit of handiwork, but it's easy peasy.

All you really need is a piece of wood (preferably a pretty one), nails (LOTS OF THEM), a hammer, a print out of whatever it is you want to make in yarn form, and of course... the yarn, which I failed to include in this photo because I don't know what got into me. OH and A REALLY GOOD PLAYLIST, coffee isn't necessary, just incredibly nice to have whilst working.

Basically, you NAIL IT! (yeah, I said it). I'm really bad at home improvement so this process was a bit annoying and tedious, not to mention very loud. Especially because I was running out of nails and I was scavenging the very corners of this entire ginger bread of a house for them! Luckily I had enough, although I did use ONE gold nail. Also, mine didn't come out very straight, but that's okay because you can't really tell, well I don't think you can...

After that, you RIP OFF THE PAPER LIKE YOU A MAD MAN. Then you laugh at the deformed heart that I, Lucia, created because like I said, my nailing skills are terrible and nonexistent.

So yeah, I think it came out pretty neat! I mean, it could use a bit of improvement in the Los Angeles area, but whatever. Can't wait to make more for some friends because they think I'm cool and that this is cool and yeah. So much coolness is happening right now, I'm overwhelmed.

(LOOK MOM! I'm an ARTISTE! I also wore fake spectacles during a decent amount of the process because I thought it fit the artsy mood I was in.)

until then! TOOODLELOOOOOO!
